Typical isn't it.
Just after I decide where to berth the boat for the season Practical Boat Owner publishes a comprehensive guide to marinas - together with their prices. Still on balance the extra cost provides for extra facilities - sounds daft but free parking and storage for the trailer is important and access to showers and shops is very convenient - so I'll try it this season and look at options for next.
The travels and adventures of one man and his boat - A Cornish Shrimper named "Daislebee". To misquote Dylan Winter "I am a man from middle England, who has lived all his life on this island we call England and yet I have never sailed around it" This blog will cover the journeys Daislebee will undertake, although a circumnavigation is a long way off.

Keep Turning Left
You'll notice the link on the left to this very entertaining site maintained by Dylan Winter. It is a growing collection of short videos posted by Dylan who is a professional film maker so the quality and content are very good. Dylan is sailing his boat around the coast of Britain, having set out from Bembridge in 2008 and made it round to the East Coast by the end of 2009. A short distance in a long time you may think, but Dylan is exploring the rivers and creeks along the way and can only sail when film commitments permit. He researches the areas well, incorporating a lot of local history and detail into the commentary. He also makes extensive use of Google Earth to 'fly' the estuaries and inlets. As we all know sailing costs money and Dylan is trying to fund his adventure by selling the full length films for nominal sums using PayPal - using the trailers on the web site as tasters. Go on - support Dylan - you know it's worth it.

Chichester Marina
We had a look at several berths and ended up back where we started with the marina manager's original suggestion - a nice remote single pontoon with lots of turning space and located at the far end so not bothered by passing traffic coming and going to the lock - not that I intend to spend too much time tied up in the marina. All set now - just need the boat to be delivered on time......
Here goes ...
Well, today is a start point - the first blog of what will hopefully be a reasonably entertaining record of adventures. The boat has been ordered, the colours chosen and a delivery date agreed. We're travelling to Chichester Harbour today, to look at a couple of berthing options in two marina's - Chichester and Birdham, just up stream from Itchenor. The sun is shining, the sky is blue - all that's is required to make it even better would be to have the boat already and be travelling down to go for a sail.
